The Real Activist: You

What does it mean to be an activist?

Someone who takes action on causes they care about.

That’s all it takes, in my book.

I know a lot of you are activists.

I’m proud to be surrounded by you.

If you’ve been discouraged or saddened this last week – such as by the news of the heartbreaking tragedy in Orlando – I just want to say:

Keep on with your activism.

Whatever it is.

If you cook meals for the homeless.

If you coach a soccer team for LGBT kids.

If you attend neighborhood meetings.

If you help refugees learn English.

If you donate money.

If you meditate or pray for peace.

Everything you do, it does makes a difference.

Kick it up a notch, if you’re inspired. Use your anger, sadness, as a fuel.

Start where you are, with what you have, and what you believe in.

Then, keep going.

P.S. Yesterday I pushed myself to kick it up a notch with this video. I also have three things I'm going to do this week to show support for the causes I care most about. Thanks for being part of my inspiration.
